March 27th 2011, one year ago was my solo crossing from Catalina Island and my almost two-hour rendezvous with Larry The Whale. This year, to be honest I was not planning on doing the Catalina Crossing. However, as it got closer and closer things started to fall in place. Quickblade Paddles told me about a girl who wanted to do the crossing solo. Her name Jen Lee, from Hawaii. The Catalina Challenge is actually a relay team race. Last year the race organizers allowed me to participate in their event as a solo paddler because I was doing it to raise money for breast cancer awareness and prevention, which when all was said and done, thanks to Larry we raised over $130,000! This year Jen decided to do it solo on her own, the Thursday before the Catalina Challenge and turn around and do it again with me on Sunday as a relay! She is a nut! We just met for the first time the Friday before the race. We wanted to show our support to the race organizers by doing the paddle as a team. With the supportof Quickblade we decided to dedicate our crossing to the victims and families in Japan. The T-shirts we wore are for sale on Quickblade’s website. All Proceeds go directly to the RED CROSS to support the earthquake and Tsunami relief in Japan. Please support us by supporting the cause by purchasing a T-shirt!

Just want to give a big thank you to all of those that helped out today! We really appreciate everyone enduring the weather to support the first annual ADLER PADDLER! It was such a great event even with the crazy weather! We will try and post all the race results in the next few days.

Hi all just wanted to give a quick update. We will be setting up as early as 7am tomorrow morning down in Belmont Shores. If you need an exact address to plug into you phone for directions use this:

We will start registration for the race at 8am and will start the race and the fun paddle right at 10am after a short race and safety meeting. Depending on the weather the “fun” paddle may not be too fun. Either way you can still show you support by coming down and participating in the raffle and buying a ADLER PADDLER T-Shirt!
If the Weather get’s too bad we have a back up plan for the raffle. We will move the raffle to Tsunami Sushi in Sunset Beach directly after the Paddle:
