It’s coming, the 5th Annual ADLER PADDLER.

PADDLERS MUST HAVE PFDs ON BOARD OR PERSON OR LIFEGUARDS COULD PROHIBIT YOU FROM RACING!!

You can pre register on PADDLE GURU

You can reserve a Board & Paddle Rental in exchange for a donation here: SPINLISTER to use the day of the Race. (Limited Number) You can also bring an extra board to the race to add it to the SPINLISTER rental database and your rental fee will be donated straight to the cause!

This is a free race and we’d love to keep it that way.  Last year we had such a great turnout that the city has more than doubled our fees.  However, they have been very accommodating and with the help of  Councilwoman Suzie Price’s office were were able to get a little break on the increase.  We are on the hook for $1836.00 ($1254.00 Permit & Lifeguards + $250 US SAILING CENTER + $332 Liability Insurance)

Last year we were able to donate $6499.00 to the John Ritter Foundation For Aortic Health after expenses. We are hoping to write JRF an even bigger check this year but that’s going to take a huge group effort and we are challenging everyone to help us make it happen!!!

This event isn’t just about raising money for such a great organization but it’s also about encouraging people to understand and gain awareness of their family history.   First-degree relatives (parents, siblings, children) of a person who has, or has had, a thoracic aortic aneurysm and/or dissection can have a higher chance to develop an aneurysm. Our goal as an event is to help prevent premature deaths due to thoracic aortic disease by creating more public awareness of this disease.

Of course this event is also always about coming together as a group of friends, strangers, fellow paddlers, and families to remember our good friend STEVE ADLER and celebrate the sport of Stand Up Paddling.

We are always looking for Volunteers and Raffle Donations so  please contact info@thesupspot.com if you are interested in getting involved!

We’re looking forward to seeing you all there!

While the details and true impact of super Typhoon Haiyan are still being discovered, one thing is immanent. In a disaster area of this magnitude clean water becomes a VERY important factor. If you want to help please donate www.wavesforwater.org and help spread the word for @wavesforwater as they will actually put your donations to work! @paddlewithpurpose believes in @jon_rose and the work his organization does. They are doers not talkers and are tightening their boot straps as we speak to get clean water solutions to the people affected by this disaster. We put our money where our mouth is and challenge everyone to do the same! Thanks @hurley_h20 and @reachoutww for getting it started by donating 200 Clearwater filtration systems to ground zero immediately. Any size donation helps!

3rdAdlerpaddler.posterartThe 3rd Annual ADLER PADDLER will be on St. Patricks Day once again.  This year we are adding the option to do a long course or a short course.  The long course will be 5.6 miles (two laps around Naples).  The short course will be the same one lap that we have done the past two years, which is 2.8 miles.  Because of the notorious bad weather the past two years we have rented space at the US SAILING CENTER which is just north of Leeway Beach.   If the weather is bad we will be handling race check in inside the facility as well as the  post race raffle.   Look for us to be set up closer to the south just North of the US SAILING CENTER.

On August 10th Dave Cornthwite set out to swim 1000 miles between Chamberlain, South Dakota and St Louis, Missouri.  Dave will be towing all of his gear with him on a carbon fibre raft and he will be escorted by a support team of 6 Stand Up Paddlers that will do the entire trek by his side.  Paddle with Purpose had the pleasure of meeting Dave during the Trestles to TJ paddle.   On that paddle we learned about the journey that Dave and his team was about to take on.   Dave’s mission is perfectly aligned with Paddle With Purpose’s mission statement and we wanted to support Dave and Team as we are all  hoping to help the group raise 100,000 pounds for UK-based breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel!  50 days, 20 miles a day. 1 man swimming 1000 miles, 6 people paddling 1000 miles. Stay tuned for updates on Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube from beginning to end.

Paddle With Purpose is helping to supply Dave with Swim Caps, we pledge to help spread the word, and we are contributing funds to help the team with their social media push.  Please help us spread the word in getting the team to their fundraising goal!  Paddle With Purpose will join Dave towards the end of his journey the end of September to see him to the finish line!   GO DAVE GO!  Did we mention that the Missouri River is one of the dirtiest stretches of river in North America?   Let’s hope he can stay strong and healthy along the way!
